Fantastic Experience
I had the most incredible time walking the Milford Track with Ultimate Hikes. Everything was perfectly organised—from the pre-walk handbook and daily briefings to the cosy lodges and amazing food. Couldn’t fault a single thing.
The guides—Fergus, Sophie, Helen, and Bridget—were absolute legends. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and kept the vibes high. The other walkers were also a lovely bunch, which made the experience even better.
And the track was absolutely stunning. Lush forests, crystal-clear rivers, and towering peaks at every turn. What a way to kick-start my hiking journey—I’m hooked.

Wonderful trek organised and run by professional and friendly company.
Just completed the Routeburn Track guided walk run by Ultimate Hikes and it exceeded expectations. We were provided with all necessary information and reminders prior to the start and an extra question I raised on rucksacks was answered quickly and positively. The guides for our walk organised the group in a relaxed and confident manner and really added to the trip with all the information they gave on the trees, flowers, geography and history of the route.
Never felt rushed on the walk - you could walk at your own pace but the guides were always monitoring the group for safety. The lodges used on the trek were very comfortable with a mix of twin rooms and 4 bed rooms, warm showers and an excellent drying room. Food was excellent and plentiful with tea and coffee always available. Overall this was a very well organised and run trek that ensured you got the most out of the experience - would highly recommend Ultimate Hikes.

Highly recommend
I walked both the Grand Traverse and the Milford walks with Ultimate Hikes this year. Both were incredible experiences :) All the guides are super friendly and helpful as well as all the lodge staff.
You can tell a lot of effort has gone into to planning every step, I never felt like we were going to miss anything.
The food was awesome and the rooms comfortable.
The tracks themselves have the perfect amount of toilets and rest stops. I highly recommend booking any of the hikes with Ultimate Hikes. Make sure you train first and you will have an even better time!
